A Message from the Chairman

It was May 1987 when Trevor Grice MNZM CNZM began the journey for us in NZ, and his passion and determination has seen Life Education Trust become one of the most successful Charities in the Country, with research stating we are making a real difference with children.

2023 marks the 21st anniversary of our own Trust, Life Education Auckland Central, - in 2001 I met with a dozen or so local business people in a small room with a Vision, a Bank Overdraft, and a Mission to deliver Life Education programmes to young children in our area.

From those humble beginnings, we have grown into a respected community asset, owned by the communities in which we work, manned by an army of supporters and volunteers, meaning that the bulk of our donated funds get straight to the coalface – children right here in your own backyard. As an Organisation, we choose not to request or receive Government Funding.

Our growth and innovation which has led us to be at the cutting edge of teaching Health using technology,  would not have been possible without our fantastic band of Sponsors who have been there for us at every step….and hurdle…. through the Global Financial Crisis, the COVID-19 pandemic….and celebrating with us as we achieved many goals, including expanding to 2 Mobile Classrooms, assisting new Trusts establish around us, pilot ground breaking new programmes into Intermediate Schools – and Partner with many local groups including Rotary, Lions, Church & Youth Groups, Secondary & University student groups.  

Our Collaboration with like minded  organisations such as Save the Children, Feel Brave, The Asthma and Respiratory Foundation, Anxiety New Zealand, Netsafe and Barnados New Zealand add real value to our own Health based programmes

We arrive at the school gates each and every teaching day, clouded in an air of mystique…towed there by the dedicated drivers of Mainfreight & NZ Post who have been with us since day one!

Our Vision is to enable children to reach their full potential and our Purpose is to educate and inspire generations to embrace positive choices for a healthy mind and body

Our Strategy and plans will see us engage directly with 85% of children and families in NZ by the Year 2025

Our Trust is Governed by a dedicated, volunteer Trustee team who are a huge help to me, - employs two inspirational Educators committed to delivering quality sessions with amazing enthusiasm – and backed by Foundation Sponsors in Partridge Jewellers, Mainfreight, Rotary & NZ Post – with Ambassadors Terenzo Bozzone, Danielle Johnson & Craig Grylls spreading our brand & image on the sporting world stage.

And what can we say about our powerful Mascot – “HAROLD” the Giraffe, the country’s most recognised mascot with children…and also the now “grown up” children.
